Start parts contain items that you would like to have in all of your models. They contain standard datum planes, parameters and etc. They are rather easy to create and I have attached a link that discusses how to create them, but it is related to creating a mapkey. You could sort out the mapkey information and follow the rest of the steps. Unfortunately replying to the entire extent of startparts, including startassy, would be to large for this reply. http://www.ptc.com/cs/cs_20/howto/fun1404/fun1404.htm

ashok, First of all, the whole idea of a Start Part is to save time and eliminate useless repetition. Whatever you do every time you start a part before doing anything unique for that part is what you want to do once and save in your Start Part. The most common things included in a Start Part are Parameters, Datum Features, and Views. You might also want to give unique names to some of these features. The standard Start Parts that come with the software now (INLBS_PART_SOLID in the proeWildfire 3.0/templates directory, for example) have a Default Coordinate System, 3 Default Datum Planes, names for the Datum Planes, a set of saved views (TOP, FRONT, etc.), and 2 Parameters (DESCRIPTION & MODELED_BY) You can either modify the parts that come with Pro or create your own from scratch. If you copy the supplied parts, you can leave them alone and put your augmented parts in your own directory and point the software to that directory using the config option start_model_dir. (I have a directory PRO_FILES/START_MODELS, for example.) You might want to add parameters such as PART_NO, MATERIAL, REVISION, DATE, WEIGHT, etc. You can add unique Views if you use them, maybe other Datum Features such as an Axis through planes FRONT & RIGHT. You can even add solid features to save more time. For example, my Start Part already has a rectangular protrusion in it because a large majority of the parts I design start out that way. I have other non-default parts like PIN, TUBE, etc. that I can pick from the list if I'm starting a part with other "basic" 3-D geometry. David
