Installation of Mathcad 2001i

I still have and use Mathcad 2001I. It does everything I have ever asked it to do and does it well. I am a self employed civil engineer practicing mainly in single family residential structural design. My clients are achiotebuilding designers, contractors and, once in a while, the property owners directly. I work mainly in wood. I have designed worksheets that solve the problein the order that I pref In most instances I only need to change the input numbers. My problem is that I have upgraded to a Windows 7 computer. In the past, whenever I have upgraded Mathcad I got an uprade disk and I could load it in my computer. Since the computer already had the previous version of Mathcad on it the upgrade disk worked. This time I am not upgrading Mathcad onto a computer that already has Mathcad on it. Since I had only kept the latest disk, and it is an upgrade disk, when I load it on this virgin computer it asks for the serial number of the previous disk or for the previous disk itself. I have neither. Is there any way to get around this?

Could try contacting the Mathcad License and Install team as Dan has pointed out.

Mathcad 2001i is indeed a completely useable program; however, it will not install on Windows 7. Even if you have the previous product code you will get a message that "you must unload your debugger before you can run this program."

The PTC people were helpful, but their answer was that Mathcad 2001i will not run on W7.

I still hope that the XP emulation mode of W7 professional will allow the installation; but I have to try that in a store since I have W7 home on my computer.
If you do find an answer please post it - I am sure many users are waiting.

Until I get Mathcad on my new W7 machine I am keeping my old XP machine. I guess that it isn't really too much of a problem. A "computer guru" networked my macines so that I could get data from or send data to the hard drive of either machine (and my wife's W7 machine). I've got to keep the XP machine anyway because I have a couple of 36" roll plotters (HP Designjet 700 & HP Designjet 450C) that supposedly won't work with W7.

It will install on Windows 7 except you need Profesional then get the XP Mode emulator (from microsoft - free) and installl it there it works just fine
