Use the same method but don't go too close to zero. Start xx at, say, 0.001.

What was the problem? The divison by zero because of the (....)^(1/alpha)?

p(alpha) is not defined for alpha=0.

Could you please tell me how to write the actual POLYNOMIAL FUNCTION?

I tried to use "Symbolic Evaluation" sign, but it didn't work!
