PSI for 10.1 won't allow upgrade from 9.1

We are considering upgrading from Windchill Intralink 9.1 M060 to 10.1 M010.When I run the 10.1 PTC Solution Installer (on a test server with 9.1 installed) the option to upgrade an existing installation is grayed out.Am I missing something?Gerry ChampouxWilliams InternationalWalled Lake, MI

The installer is looking for a file named psi_iir_index.xml that contains an instance id. This needs
to match a directory name in the <windchill-install_dir>/installer/instreg directory.
On a Solaris install this psi_iir_index.xml file is located at
$HOME/.ptc/windchill/psi_iir_index.xml. So if you installed Windchill as root then this file is
located at:
/.ptc/windchill/psi_iir_index.xml

If the instance location id can be edited in the psi_iir_index.xml file to match what is actually
contained in the Windchill-Install_dir>/installer/instreg directory

If I understand the question. You are trying to run the 10.1 installer on a 9.1 system to upgrade to 10.1. This will not work. You need to setup a separate clean 10.1 install and run the upgrade manager to upgrade your data to the new version. The PTC Solution Installer only works for Point and Maintenance releases. This upgrade process is quite detailed.

Gerry and Randy,

Moving from release 9.1 M060 to 10.1 M010 is considered an upgrade and is not an update. So you should run the Upgrade Manager.
