PTC does have a tool that will create WT PArts from existing CAD models. This is basically the tool that creates the WT Parts when migrating. I have attached a presentation that I received from PTC tech support in regards to setting up and using the tool.

Derek Mulligan
Engineering System Manager

>>> David Tate <davidtate@keystrokedesigns.ca> 7/19/2012 9:49 AM >>>

PDMLink9.1 - We have thousands of existing Pro/E files that we now want to create WTParts for.

In Windchill 10.1 M010, and maybe prior versions, there is a Windchill Part Creation Utility which will accomplish what you want. Here is an excerpt from the "What Does It Do?" section.
What Does It Do?
The Windchill Part Creation Utility is used to bulk create WTParts related to
previously existing CAD documents and build product structures based on a set of
rules configured by the user.
This utility might be used as a post Pro/INTRALINK 3.x migration to PDMLink, a
Pro/INTRALINK 8+ upgrade to PDMLink, or an existing PDMLink customer that
has only been using the system for CAD data management to date and now wants
to introduce WTParts and products structure into PDMLink.

Patrick Williams | Engineering Systems | o: 616.698.3766 | c: 616.947.2110
[cid:image001.jpg@01CD65C4.60E18440]
