@khimani_mohiki

You've created a "Designated Area" (https://www.ptc.com/en/support/article?n=CS234167, http://support.ptc.com/cs/help/creo_hc/creo20_hc/index.jspx?id=part_five_sub-About_Designated_Areas&action=show or http://support.ptc.com/cs/help/creo_hc/creo20_hc/index.jspx?id=part_five_sub-To_Create_a_Designated_Area&action=show) in your cad model, checked it into Windchill and published the model with a CAD Worker, right?

I don't believe Creo Parametric passes any additional detail regarding "Designated Area" feature to Windchill and as such, Windchill only works with the model from a CAD Document level.

As to identifying if a part has published geometry from within Windchill, if the CAD Worker has published the model, you'll see a visualization thumbnail when viewing the object (folder list, search result, information page) and a representation/annotation in the Content tab of the information page.

I'm unsure if the OOTB CAD Worker publishes quilt detail. You may need to configure the worker to publish with some recipe customizations (https://www.ptc.com/en/support/article?n=CS56399).

Designate Objects from Creo?

When I designate an object (more specifically a feature or quilt) in Creo, how do I see it in Windchill, what will its relationship be to the CAD document, is anyone using this functionality? I am looking for a way to show that a part has published geometry from within Windchill.

Thanks

Hi Craig, Im interested in the functionality of Designate (Model Intent > Designate) rather than Designated area.

As below, in addition to parameters, I can designate also designate Features, Surfaces, Edges, Quilts, Annotation elements and Curves. The tooltip suggests that there is a way to see these designations in PDM.

There is some documentation, but its not clear how these designations can be shown in PDMLink
