Hello all,

In the "Save to Model Manager" window it is possible to check a box with "Add PDF". This generates a PDF of the moment the drawing is saved and attaches it to the masterdata.

After saving it and getting it checked the drawing state of the drawing is changed to released by our purchaser. The names and dates of approving and releasing are shown on the drawing, but will appear after opening the drawing again.

This information is not visible on the pdf that is generated during saving. When using the batchplot function (send to plotter), this is visible on the printed drawing.

One way to get this information on the pdf in the model manager is to open the drawing in creo annotation, then under the tab Model Manager, click add pdf.

This means that our purchaser should open every drawing he releases, and click add pdf to update the drawing pdf with the approve and release information. Is there a way to do this automatically? By adding some macro script to the 'change state to released' button or something?

Would safe a lot of time to get the information right on the pdfs...

This might be possible to do through the Model Manager Task Agent. I personally have not worked with it. I know that you can have it run periodically to run prints or plots. Maybe this would do what you want.

It is something to look into.

All buttons under the tab 'Task Agent' in ModelManager are greyed oud, so not clickable. Is there a checkbox somewhere to activate Task Agent?

I personally have not used Task Agent, but this is from the Model Manager help

You can use Model Manager Task Agent to automatically create a PDF when the drawing is released.

You don't need any Task Agent Buttons in the Model Manager Client (for that you need a Task Agent license).

The generation of PDF when the drawing is released is handled by the *Server*.

However, this requires that you know how to setup/configure Task Agent, Job Spooler and Job Server(s).

OOTB Model Manager has a group "ReleasedItemManager" (or similar).
Members of this group have permissions to add "items" to released drawings/models.
Try if this solves your problem (without dealing with Task Agent and Job Spooler/Server).

To say it clearly:
Adding a PDF only makes sense *after* the drawing is released because then the drawing itself will no longer
change. Also, changes in the Meta data (e.g. element of class DRAWING_2D) are prevented by access rules.

So using the "create PDF when drawing is stored" is superfluous.
There are different ways/options to add a PDF to a released drawing.
The most comfortable options are not for free (buy consulting to setup TaskAgent, or buy Techsoft iFactory product, or ……)
