Hi thanks for your reply! I am using Derived Tag, Actually I get a source tag from a channel which is GOOD and I can monitor that tag! then I do some logics on it for the Derived Tag even though the syntax is correct, but Kepware isn't happy with it and keep saying BAD Quality.

Hi every one!

I’m experiencing an issue with Advanced Tags in our Kepware project and need guidance.

Setup:

Kepware version: [KepserverEx 6]

Channels: K1,

Devices: PLC1,

Source tags: Boolean / WORD tags under devices (quality = GOOD in OPC Quick Client)

Advanced Tags: created in the global “Advanced Tags” folder

Aliases: created pointing to Advanced Tags and mapped to the corresponding device

Problem:

All Advanced Tags show BAD quality in OPC Quick Client.

Source tags themselves read correctly and have GOOD quality.

Even a simple Advanced Tag referencing a single Boolean tag shows BAD quality.

The “Mapped To” option is only available in the Alias — the Advanced Tag itself has no “Mapped To” field.

We want to confirm:

If this is the correct setup for reading Advanced Tags via OPC/AVEVA.

Whether there are any licensing, runtime, or configuration steps we may be missing that prevent Advanced Tags from evaluating.

Thank you for your guidance.

Hello,

Are you looking to link one tag to another? If so, you can use the Link Tags feature to connect two tags.

Note: Link Tags are used to create a relationship between two server tags. For example, this allows Tag A from Device A to be linked to Tag B from Device B without requiring a third-party client connection. When enabled, a Link Tag writes the value of an Input Tag to an Output Tag, effectively linking the two tags.

If you need to create tags other than Link Tags, you can do so similarly. More details on each tag type can be found in the Advanced Tags Help file.

Thanks

Hi every one! I managed to solve it, I think that was a licence issue! All I did I re-install the software and immediately it started to recognise my Derived tags!

this is from the manual saying : "When enabled, the expression is evaluated.
When disabled, the expression is not evaluated and the OPC DA quality of the tag is “Bad - Out of Service.”

Hope this helps to someone else!

Cheers
