Thank you, Stephen. I'm gonna punt on this for now. It doesn't seem to like the fact that there is no groove actually modeled. When there is a gap between the two surfaces, it generates the weld. Even then, the weld is displaying flush to the top of both surfaces being welded together instead of having a convex shape, so it's difficult to discern the actual weld, which is why I wanted to model the weld to begin with.

Hello,

I am trying to create a square butt weld. However, I just noticed that the weld wizard does not appear in the ribbon for a .prt database. Other weld options are available, but not the wizard. I was trying to simplify the modeling using a .prt instead of .asm. Do you think there is a configuration option to add the weld wizard to a .prt database? Thank you.

Bill

Stephen, thank you.

Can you tell me what is the sequence to create a square weld? I selected the orange surface, then the blue surface, then the edge between them, but no weld bead was created. Clicking the checkmark, the dialogue box says, 'feature failed to regenerate'.

I don't think you pick surfaces for butt welds. I'm not an expert in welding app at all, so maybe its only my hack.

I select the edge on each and if one of them is too short or tool long, you have to go details - options to set the ends (dimension or to reference)
