topic Intelligent Fasteners with existing Windchill parts in 3D Part & Assembly Design

My company is looking to implement intelligent fasteners into our assemblies. We have a standard part numbering system for all the fasteners we use.

The issue is that we have hundreds of existing fasteners already stored in Windchill and our assemblies. Most of these are just cad downloaded from the internet (not IFX).

Is there a way to easily implement intelligent fasteners into existing assemblies with fasteners (a way to replace all our old cad with the intelligent fastener cad)?

Hi Bob,

there is no way to 'replace' your existing fasteners with new IFX fasteners.

But it is possible to reuse your existing fasteners in IFX. You have to add the names and the assembly constaint IDs to a *.dat file.

You find a details explanation here.

There is also a tutorial available.

It would be the best if you have a list for each fastener typ which you can use to copy your names to an existing *.dat file which fits best.

Regards,
Oli
