What's the magic with the auto regen in Creo2 (and I assume Creo1)? If I edit a dimension, the model appears to regenerate and the geometrychanges on screen. It's generally a nice feature. What I don'tunderstand is what happens next. I guess the model isn't actuallyregenerated

When we do manually regenerate, it seems to work normal for us.

"Too many people walk around like Clark Kent, because they don't realize they can Fly like Superman"

Here comes the Old Dog again....

I am lost on this as an enhancement or productivity gain. Do any of you other Old Dogs remember Auto Dimension in Sketcher long, long ago? Nice idea in the aether....but horrible in reality. One click to "do it all for me" then 47 clicks to undo whatit did and redo what I wanted in the first place.I regard the Auto Regen the in the same way. Too much.....too fast...too smart. Old news.

I have a (23 year old) dream...a dream where my software operates correctly, completely, intelligently, intuitively and without too much smarty pants stuff happening behind the curtain as "I" want it to. Cheaters never get ahead for long. Call me cynical....but after using seven different CAD software over my design career.....trust me when I say it's all the same regardless of the PR.Math is math.

Moving on....

Just my $.02 using WF5 and CREO1:

I agree that sometimes the software seems to get ahead of themselves,
but what about things that have you saying 'WTF' ??

* Having surface cuts that are not automatically 'through all'
(because any option other than 'through all' causes an error).

* Dimensioning in drawing mode that lets you attach a created
dimension to an object line that is invisible on the screen.

* When in drawing mode and choosing to regen an assembly,
'Automatic' has to be manually selected each time.

* Creating a section view that is not automatically set to 'Hidden
lines removed'

* Having a model declare that 'regen not required' because the TDO
floating module is not checked out in the current session so TDO
dependent features are not checked for regen. How about something like
'Full regen of the model requires modules A,B,C...'

* Having a model 'goal' not regen'ed because the Behavioral
Modeling option is not currently active. (see above)

* In CREO1, having an exclamation point show up over the CREO icon
in Windows toolbar with no explanation why. How about a 'tooltip'
dialog popup describing the issue when I hover over the icon?

Other things I'd like to have the option of doing:

* Disable any particular warning dialog box from popping up (still
show in the notification line above the ribbon, though)

* Have the ability to avoid inadvertent assembly references when
editing a part model while in the assembly.

* Have the ability to see 'In context' references in sketcher, and
optionally delete them.

* Populate a pattern of holes with fasteners in assembly without
having to pick the first instance of the pattern. (No visual cues to
which item is the first instance)

* Have one setting in drawing mode to set a standard for
dimensioning/tolerancing scheme (JS, ISO, ASME, etc...) with options to
vary.

* Have the ability to halt modeling if a Geometry Check is
created. (fix it now!, option)

OK, I feel better now... time to get back to work.

Christopher F.

You can set: show_geom_checks_on_creation yes to address the last item you mentioned. You will want to disable this if you import large STEP files or you will have to acknowledge each geom check on imports.

Regards,
Bill
