Thanks to the many people who replied. Most suggested adding the
parameter to family table as a variable. I did some experimenting and I
believe I found a concrete solution that includes these steps:
1. Create INDEX parameter (integer) in start parts for
assemblies/parts
2. When family table instances are used, include the INDEX
parameter as a variable in the table
3. Under settings-->tree columns, show INDEX parameter to allow
easy modification of the parameter in all parts
4. In drawing, sort repeat region by &asm.mbr.INDEX in order to
sort by your new custom index parameter.
