External Keypad

Hello,
I've buy Stream Deck XL.
Very fine for my mapkeys and folders, sub-folders.

I highly recommend it !
Even if it's made for video streaming, I can program all my Creo Mapkeys 😉
I save a lot of time !
Each key can have a picture and a text.
It's ok for my text, but I'm wondering if Creo icons could be finds in Creo folders or somewhere.
For exemple display planes... create new assembly...
Thanks

What version of Creo are you using.

I tried it in November, 2021 (Creo 40.) to no avail:

I may need to try it again since we are a newer version of Creo?

Well, I'm working for several clients.
Switching from Creo 2 to Creo 9.
But it works for pasting map keys and it's fine !

I use mapkeys extensively, so I am curious about your use of physical keys.

Have you used any of the 3D Connexion devices? Most of them support mapkeys via radial menus invoked by a physical button. Have you found a physical keypad to be more efficient than virtual keypads within Creo?

Simple 4 mapkey radial menu invoked by a physical button on 3D mouse. These radial menus can be extended to more than 4 mapkeys. These radial menus can be invoked on the fly in the graphics window.

The nice thing with the Elgato Stream deck is the layers of keys.

You can press one button and it brings you to a new screen for another set of keys - or keys for another application.

I use it extensively at my church during the live streaming for camera presets and scenes.

Thx for the details on that. You can create your own Creo "Ribbon" UI on this external UI device. I am not seeing the advantage over customizing the ribbon in Creo (I do not do this).

I use two external input devices to execute map keys. 3D mouse device with buttons (radial menu commands) and a 2D mouse with 7 buttons mapped to commonly used mapkeys. These 7 are commonly used commands that save me from going to the keyboard or the Creo UI to activate. Sequences such as switching the tree from model to layer.

In the context of my daily workflow, I am not seeing how this makes me more efficient. Am I missing something about how to leverage this device, assuming it works with Creo?

How often do you work in programs other than Creo.

If you do not have short cuts for commands in these other softwares, that could be the added benefit.

It can also run a series of commands - sort of like a mapkey to run a series of mapkeys.

I have neither a 3D mouse not a 7 button 2D mouse. So potential is probably greater.

Buy those two things or buy a StreamDeck.

I have recently started using some PowerTools on my system for specific window placements (FancyZones). Now my Excel files and pdf's always open in the same spot on the screen.

I've already have a 3D connexion device.
But never used realy.
I prefer a keypad for Map keys.
