Pro/Program or Wildfire 5 Issue

Hello gurus,

We have an issue that we have been experiencing for the 12 months that we have been on WF5.

We are currently on WF5 M130 with PDMlink 10 M030, but also had the exact same issue while on WF5 M060 and PDMLink 9.1 M050.

I'm not sure whether it is a Pro/Program flaw or more of a WF5 regeneration or PDMLink integration issue.

We have a large base assembly that is used as a master to make copies from and it contains lots of family table instances for the lower level models.

Pro/Program is used to drive the logic for different iterations.

In a session linked to PDMLink, if we edit the program, save the changes and incorporate them back into the model, it runs for an hour.

In a standalone session of Pro/E / Creo, it regenerates the exact same changes into the model in 25 seconds.

I had a look at the trail files for the 2 different sessions.

The linked session had entries such as this:

!25-Jul-12 11:16:12 End wtws://Windchill/testing/17012c0103_def.prt|#.0

!25-Jul-12 11:16:12 Start wtws://Windchill/testing/17012c0104_def.prt|#.0

!%CIMaterial STEEL_MILD_1-6MM_PLATE was assigned to the part.

!25-Jul-12 11:16:14 Start wtpub://Windchill/xxxx/xxxx/xxxx/17012c0110_def.prt|A.1

So its as if it's opening every related model in the workspace & re-assigning materials for each one.

The instances that aren't in the workspace, it's going back into commonspace and grabbing them.

Whereas in the standalone session the trail file entries look like this:

!%CDLine 1 assembly 02A40_46N01_RS_XM_1: Model changed since mass props calculated. May need to recalculate.

!%CDLine 2 assembly 02A40_46N01_RS_XM_1: Model changed since mass props calculated. May need to recalculate.

Obviously we would like the performance of the standalone session every time.

Would anybody have an explanation on why the methods are giving different results and any suggestions on how to make the linked session perform satisfactorily?

We have had a couple of TS calls on this issue with PTC, but no joy.

TIA
