Using multibody master modeling.

Using multibody master modeling.

I designed and 3d printed this squirrel picnic table using bamboo wood. It all snaps together like a puzzle with some gorilla glue. Screw an acorn to the top and put it outside on a tree.

I used a master modeling technique where the entire assembly is comprised of a single part model with multiple bodies that are driven by relations. I allowed the bodies to intersect and used a boolean cut to subtract the differences. I used flexible modeling to offset tight fitting areas with extra space. Then an auto-round on all edges of all bodies.

I exported each body as a reference part and arranged them on my print tray. Took six only hours to print.

Would you provide some information on what hardware you are using to 3D print with Bamboo? I would like to understand how the print head is using wood during deposition of layers.

It seems the wood contents varies from 20 to 40% with the rest being polymers and do not require any special hardware to print. You can find the TDS and more details in the links below. Pretty interesting stuff, there are metal filaments as well now and some of those require attention to nozzle materials.

Wood filaments:

I thought perhaps it was a laminated object manufacturing process (LOM) using bamboo sheets. If that was available in a prosumer product, I wanted to look at it. I suspect @IbrahimTayyab is correct and it is an extrusion FDM printer using bamboo chopped fiber in a resin matrix.

In the past I have used LOM paper models to make large scale versions of designs (printed at 4x actual size) for design review. LOM using bamboo sheets could produce functional parts which is why I asked.
