PART PATH ID changes between NHA model drawings.

PART PATH ID changes between NHA model drawings.

SO say I have a sensor in this NHA structure.

When I open up the full top level assembly model of the entire car say it looks like this.

000-900-111 =Car full assembly

      >  000-111-285= Engine compartment installation

           >000-285-358= Engine assembly

                >000-358-001 part 1

                >000-358-002 part 2

                >000-907-783 Sensor 1

                >Ect....

When I go look at the part path id

Creo view will take those long part number and convert them into a shortform part id path so 000-900-111 it might make an 8 and all the other parts also get an assignment.

So it would look like this with drawing number matched with Part Path ID number assigned by Creo.

Dwg #000-900-111      /     000-111-285   /  000-285-358     /    000-907-283   gives you a PNID path of

PPID#            8                /                 42          /          185                /          65

So inside of creo view I have the capability to search for that exact sensor based on that ID,

Now say I didn't want to load up the entire car model and I opened up just the 000-111-285 engine compartment model.

The PNID path you would expect for it given that the sub assembly model fed into the main assembly model would be

DRG#  000-111-285   /  000-285-358     /    000-907-283

 PPID#           42          /          185                /          65

But that doesn't happen... you get an entire different set of of PPID# 14/84/11 in this sub assembly creoview model.

Now we track this PPID number at the engineering level and its based off the top level drawing, but anytime I go into a low level drawing since I don't need to load the entire car the PPID# is useless because it reconfigures the number in each individual model.

Why isn't it the same path number no matter where I load it.     Why can't the system force all the part path id's from the higher assembly down through the lower level ones to have continuity?

Did I confuse you enough?

Creo View 10.1 introduced in context Find/Filter functionality which allows you to search for component or instance while you are in Model Tree (without even requirement to load the complete representation in View). This also allows you to find on any attributes listed as additional column in model tree.

You can find more info on What’s New in Creo View MCAD (ptc.com)

Give a try with this and check if it help.
