Creo Simulate: Contact analysis issue

@skunks @SweetPeasHub

Hello Team,

I am trying to run the non-linear analysis for assembly with contacts. After running every time, it gives below error,  can you please advise, what can be possible solution to this?

Below are some snapshots to show the model i have setup:

  o The model may have a buckling mode with a load factor
    smaller than this value. You may determine the smallest
    (linear) buckling load factor by running a buckling
    analysis.

  o The deformations may be large enough that you must
    further refine the mesh. To locate potential problem
    areas, it may help to run an analysis with reduced
    loads and examine the deformed shape of the model.

  o The model may have a static instability.

  o  It is possible that the load is too large for the model's
     material or the model is insufficiently constrained. Check
     the constraints and material properties, or reduce the maximum load.

I basically do not use finite friction.
For "flying" parts like pins I use springs to base.

Would you like to have an example?

Yes please can you please provide detailed approach, how should i go about all contacts for pin? I have added frictional contact on pin diameter and hole surface. and spring for axial movement to restrict.

Also, should any changes done on config file for simulate to use?

the FEM model has 2 variants:
- without contact
- with contact

Hello @skunks

Thanks for your email.

I run the analysis based on your reference model. It was working but stresses it was showing were quite high.

Is it possible the material properties should be Elasto-plastic instead of Linear for S355?

Can you please suggest when "Calculate large deformation" option should be used? In my assembly, Fastners with preload is also there, Which i can't use with large deformation. Can you please suggest if there is any alternative to use with fasteners?

Thanks for your help.

As soon as plasticity (picture attached) AND large deformations are used, then no contacts and no screws should be used, but rigid connections.

@skunks

Hi,

but if i dont use contacts and screws, will the analysis be still valid?

Can you please send me an example if possible?

example elastic-plastic

@skunks

Can you please have a look on sample model i sent, if i have setup it correctly or should make any changes?

Unfortunately, I only have Creo 2 (maximum 3), so no Creo 7. ☹️

apart from that, your welded assembly is missing weld seams

Hi @skunks

I sent you a step file of model, will it work?

I have sent a very simplified model, with radii as weld seams.
