TIV Text variables in footers - Where is my mind?

TIV Text variables in footers - Where is my mind?

I have been banging my head on this for a couple of hours now, and I can't help but feel like I'm missing something obvious.

In publishing a complete manual, I am trying to publish several chapters, each with their own TOC. I am trying to format the footer in the TOC to read "Page # of X", where X is the total page count for the TOC.

Due to other variables in the footer, I have this built as a pseudoelement, called from the page layout set.

What I'm getting is that I'm getting the last value for my TIV at the end of the manual, so all my TOCs display the page count for the last chapter TOC for ALL chapters. I tried scoping the TIV to the TOC element, which just causes the value to disappear altogether, so I end up with "Page 1 of"

Does anyone have any ideas off the top of their head? Does using the value for the TIV in a pseudoelement for the footer cause this to not resolve correctly?

Wild guess: scope=chapter?

UGH. I found it.

In the usetext for the pseudoelement for the footer, adding the [BO] modifier for the var in the source got the value to scope correctly.

I'm somewhere between embarrassed and "HULK SMASH". Need a vacation...
