Units in Relations

Units in Relations

Hello.

Is there a way to convert the Relations Units from in to mm? I have a bunch of Relations with constant numbers, i.e. D5=2.5 in, but I don't know a way to convert that in D5=63.5mm. Is there a way to do it automatically? I don´t want to change them one by one, it would take an eternity.

Thank you.

Have you read up on using units in relations?

http://help.ptc.com/creo_hc/creo30_pma_hc/usascii/#page/pma/fundamentals/fund_seven_sub/About_Units_in_Parameters.html

Specifically, check this page out on specifying units in relations directly:

http://help.ptc.com/creo_hc/creo30_pma_hc/usascii/#page/pma/fundamentals/fund_seven_sub/To_Specify_Units_in_Relations.html

So, you can change you relation to D5=2.5[in] and it will always be the equivalent of 2.5 inches regardless of the part's unit system.

That would be slick, but the point of having units in relations is so that you don't have to change them, much like not changing the units in any other constant in any other programming language. All the other languages I know require a manual rewrite to accomplish a similar task or a custom written program.

Good point - I'd assumed the units were already in the relations because he added them to his examples of relations.

(How can it take an eternity to change what did not take an eternity to make? That seems like a long time.)

Hello Doug.

Thank you for your answer, this could work.

Thank you very much!
