New to PTC community but long time user of mathcad.
I need to get the Roarks formula's for stress and strain ebook but as best I can tell from the forums it is no longer provided with mathcad AND it's not available on the forums for download (or on the web as best I can tell). Is this correct?
TIA
I thought the Mathcad Roarks libraries and other engineering ebooks were now distributed by knovel.com?
That's what I'm trying to figure out. Where can you download/purchase the ebooks. I searched on there and couldn't find it but maybe I searching wrong?
Sorry, "Roark's Formulas for Stress and Strain" is not available on Knovel.
Above is what I got searching Knovel.com but it recommends alternative books.
I had the original Mathcad Roark's handbook. Also had the hardcopy book.
Emailed the book publishers about converting all the files to Prime and reestablishing all the hyperlinks.
They were simply not interested.
Converting to Prime from Mathcad all files can be done in one session with the converter.
I am only a little way through in re-establishing the links [control]+mouse click in the now Prime worksheets.
Just too busy.
Cheers
Terry

Hi,
Have done some digging and it appears PTC had Roark's for PTC Prime 4.0?
Maybe someone from PTC would like to comment.
I don't think that this "new feature" ever was actually provided. I was still actively employed when Prime 4,0 was being used and the company would have provided it.
I have the Mathcad 7.0 "Mechanical Engineering Library" CD ROM. It has Roark's E book as well as several other reference texts but exists as the original Mathcad. Getting this transferred legally may be challenging and extracting the information, as Terry noted would be time consuming.
Couple points from an old engineer:
We end-of-saled the Roarks worksheets as a sellable item from our ecommerce store several years ago for... one reason or another.
I'm keeping Mathcad 15 and the old Mathsoft engineering ebooks running on a virtual machine for as long as possible. You're not taking them from me!
My last company was the same. I didn't understand why we were on MC15 for so long without an update but seeing all the replies I now know why we never upgraded. Man this is really annoying. I don't really want to have to recreate all those roarks sheets. Also from what I've gathered no one has been awesome and recreated them and put them out on web for download? or at least some of them?
As you pointed out (and Terry) this would be a lot of work.
That said, do you have a specific problem? Or just looking for someone do your task for you?
No specific problems but the thought of having to program the ones I need feels overwhelming. Especially since I am in the middle of a project and need to do the calcs quickly and had not anticipated having to spend time to recreate and verify mcad sheets. Many of those calcs can get very complicated. I was (selfishly) hoping someone had maybe already done the work but I see thru this thread that is not the case and I will have to build the sheet from scratch. Anyway, it is what it is and thanks for all the help.
I have the Mathcad Prime Roarks worksheets. If PTC isn't interested in selling them, can we just make them available somewhere?
Hmmm. I opened one. They were copyrighted by McGraw-Hill in 2011. I wonder if
These are still used at my place of business on a regular basis. The only think it requires is an HTML web host to provide the Table of Contents with links to the Mathcad files.
Article (2024) - "Links to Roark's Worksheet Library - 6th Edition available in Mathcad Prime format for purchase in PTC Webstore seem broken, or content has been removed": https://www.ptc.com/en/support/article/CS369696
I had started to convert Roarks Formula's to Prime some time ago but got bogged down with work. As I recall, I think I was into Chapter 7 when I stopped. I have since retired and was thinking of completing the effort. I can make it available to the Mathcad community when completed if there is interest, but it will take me some time to complete.
