March 2024 BRUG (Boston Regional User Group) is Born!

March brought something special to PTC Seaport Headquarters Boston. In honor of National Working Mom's Day, March 12th, this online community manager trekked into the city with my 15 year old son to be a spectator/helper for the BRUG (PTC/USER Boston Regional User Group) kick-off meeting.  The event was spearheaded by the new PTC/USER Regional User Group leader, @MichaelBourque, a dedicated Creo advocate. Over fifty PTC software users gathered on the 17th floor, rejuvenating the Boston Regional User Group (BRUG).

The event kicked off with Michael Bourque sharing his journey with Creo, recounting his days at PTC where he contributed to developing early versions like Wildfire. Beyond his own story, Bourque engaged the audience, seeking input on future BRUG meeting topics, focusing on the impact of PTC products.

Our discussion broadened with contributions from other PTC Community members like @ScottMorris , @sdurukkar @michaelbanusiew  highlighting future Creo and Windchill topics that promise to attract more attendees. The enthusiasm was palpable.

Then, Mark Marenghi, founder of MJM Fabrication, shared his Creo-centric career. Starting at 16 in a machine shop, Mark's journey with Creo led him to create impressive 3D forms such as debate and sports broadcasting furniture, Google lecterns, and even a boat. See some photos below!  Special treat for the in person attendees to see his actual Creo design drawings!

The event was further elevated by Brian Thompson, PTC's CAD General Manager, who shared insights into the upcoming Creo 11.0 release. We were also honored by the presence of PTC CEO Neal Barua, SVP Eric Snow, and Executive VP for Strategy and Marketing, Catherine Knicker. SVP  Jim Burroughs PTC/USER Board Member, Ron Watson, was a surprise guest, in town for business with Xylem.

We wrapped up the event exploring the PTC CXC and networking over appetizers. The event was a great success, bringing the community together and showcasing the robust potential of Creo and other PTC products. For those in the Boston area, keep an eye out for future events hosted at various PTC customer headquarters.

To close, a personal note: my role as a mom got a cool factor boost. Creo is used in the development of Fortnite by Unreal Engine—my son's favorite game.  Anxious to start driving, he loved the Polaris simulation jeep set up in the  PTC Corporate Experience Center too . This connection made the event even more special for us. Enjoy some pictures of the event and plan to go to a Regional User Group near you!

Recognition time for moms of working adults….moms currently in the throws of raising children…..and all the.dog mamas!  National Working Moms Day was the day to celebrate all the balancing acts we do working "in the home" and “out of the home” in sales, schools…manufacturing industry..corporate America...in whatever role we find ourselves!
