ProductView Standard Client to ProductView Professional 9.1

Want to hear some experiences from the membership.


For those of you that have ProductView Standard Clients (PVS) you know that about a year ago PTC offered free license upgrades to ProductView Professional 9.1 (PVP9.1.) There was an increase in maintenance associated with this.


Now, to go from PVS to PVP9.1 there is a substantial up-charge.


Q1: Did most of you take avantage of the free upgrade and are paying the extra maintenance?


Q2: Have any of you paid the up-charge and are running now on PVP9.1?

We're on Windchill 9.1 but have all users on PV Client Standard 9.0 still.

I don't think we knew about the free upgrade, but even so, we're on Standard primarily because it has Drawing Overlay and can read Pro/Process for assy viewables thru Composer.

We are on ProductView Lite 9.1, I didn't know there was a Standard and a Professional as well! What is the difference between the three products?

We are implementing PV Pro 9.1 across the board. There is a huge
difference in the UI going from 9.0 Standard to 9.1 Professional, not to
mention all the other significant options like customized searches,
validate for MBD..........

Did Raytheon pay the upcharges and increased maintenance for Professional? Did you see improvements worth paying the extra money for?

Maybe I'm not clear enough on the objective of my question.


My understanding is if you have ProductView Standard licenses they will be incompatible with PDMLink 10.0. You must upgrade to ProductView Professional 9.1+ in order to continue using the capability or recieving any future enhancements. There is a substantial increase in cost per license in order to do this.


Are you going to (or already did) pay it? Do you think its worth it? Or are you like us and see this as a very bad precedent. We don't see anything in 9.1 Professional that shouldn't be covered under our existing maintenance dollar and would like to speak with other companies that feel the same way.
