MPMLink Filter Functionality Does Not Work as Expected

I am using Windchill MPMLink Release 12.0 and Datecode with CPS 12.0.2.7

Filter does not exclude other manufacturing objects. We use plant-specific alternate BOMs and filter based on BOM number (i.e., 001, 002, etc.). Currently, filter does not work as-expected for a specific use case where the parent design object does not have a manufacturing part equivalent. Under the parent object structure when the filter is applied, all alternate BOM parts appear.

Hello DW_10309702,
This is Charles from PTC Technical Support in Europe, I will provide you assistance on this question.
Can you provide few details where such filter is getting set and used from?

Any other steps/details you could share that will help understand the use-case?
KR,
Charles.

Hi Charles,

Please refer to the following screenshots:

As you can see in these figures, the filter fails to filter out 002 in Set 1 and 001 in Set 2. Please inform how to proceed.

Thanks,

Dean

Hi @DW_10309702

I can see that you use just mfg filter and you apply this filter to the top level,

so the top-level part can not be resolved in this configuration.

I would suggest to add second filter for the design.

PetrH

Hi PetrH,

The top part showing Design is desirable. Can you please clarify?

I applied the following filter:

DW_10309702_0-1689173695856.png

Result:

DW_10309702_1-1689173716937.png

We desire the following structure:

  • TEST12345, test12345, A.2 (Design)
    • TESTPART1, testpart1, A.1 (Manufacturing,  Production, 001)

TESTPART2 should be omitted from this filter.

Thanks,

Dean

To be clear, even if you apply the filter to the individual part with a downstream equivalent (TESTPART1 (Design) == TESTPART2 (Manufacturing, Production, 001), you get the same issue:

Equivalent link is properly established:

Figure 5: Equivalence is properly established in BOM Transformer

As you can see, if a different numbered part is established as an equivalent part downstream, the filter does not work as expected.

Hi @DW_10309702

I guess the best would be to open a case with PTC.

I think that if the design assembly wtpart is used, then the filter just can not work as you would expected.

You may need to really create manufacturing view of the wtpart that you would get what you need.

PetrH

PetrH,

It does not matter if the highest level wtpart is used, it happens on an individual level; so your feedback does not apply here. If you establish an equivalent part downstream with a different number, it will not be properly filtered even on an individual level. Refer to my last message for more information. Please advise.

Hello DW_10309702,

Did you open a case or perform further tests for this use-case?

KR,

Charles.
