Update - Optional Change Objects - Any Info?

All,

We are moving from Windchill 8 to PDMLink 9.1.

We are migrating all of our Analysis Activities, Change Investigations,
and Change Proposals as read-only, legacy objects. We have had no
problems viewing the converted data. For new changes, we will not be
using those objects.

We have encountered a problem with Change Activities, however.

PDMLink 9.1, and earlier, does not allow for file attachments on the
Change Task (formerly knows as the Change Activity). We slightly modified
our system to allow the converted activities to show their attachments,
but we really want an need to have file attachments on individual Change
Tasks (not on the ECN, as available in PDMLink 9.1).

PTC Tech support said that this is functioning as designed. They also
indicated that Windchill 10 will update PDMLink with the ability to add
file attachments on the Change Task.

But version10 is too late for us.

Has anyone customized PDMLink 9.1 or earlier to allow the addition and
removal of file attachments? And if so, how did you do it? And is there
any information on that enhancement that you might share?

Thanks.

I thought I'd pass on the information gathered to the community...
As Mike indicated some types (specifically Analysis Activity, Change
Investigation, Change Proposal) are carry overs from Foundation. They
exist in the "core" for continuity, but are not visible in the UI.
Others (Change Action, Change Impacts, Change Directive) are
implementation specific. I have not (yet) received any information on
functionality or what is involved in enabling these objects in one's own
implementation.
I'm going to hold off on further comment because I'm frustrated enough to
post something I will likeley regret later. Maybe if we all ask nicely
(Enhancement Requests & Tech Calls).
