Upgrade to Windchill PDM link 9.1

Dear all,

This week the company I work for will have its Windchill environment 9.0 upgraded to 9.1. This will be done in athree step procedure:

1: make a backup from the live-server, restore this backup on the test server. Test this restore for a go/no-go.

2: upgrade the testserver to 9.1. Test this upgrade for a go/no-go.

3: upgrade the live-server to 9.1. Test: if"go" then champagne else: restore 9.0 (champagne will be plain coffee)

Now one ofmy tasks will be to test all the different steps. First the restore from the live server on the testserver environment, then the testserver upgrade to 9.1 and finaly the live server update.

So I am looking for tips how to aproach these tests. (we are currently not using any add-on modules like MPM-link or Project-link but we ar using change-management)

What troubles are to be expected in this situation?

Are there users whoperformed an upgrade from 9.0to 9.1 and what difficulties could arise?

Is there a PTC guideline to test an upgradedWindchill environment?

Kind regards,

Dennis Varkevisser

The only trouble I see is the timeframe. One week? I guess you are
expecting no issues or not having to call Tech Support. Granted, this is
less on an upgrade than going from 8.0 but I would try your best to
detail your go/no go tests to ensure that the upgrade went ok and if all
the standard user functions operate as before (check what's new between
versions). Validate that a week is enough to complete all these tests.
