In the past we had the ability to insert an AutoCad drawing into Mathcad.
It does not appear that this is still possible.
What is the best way to insert a sketch without purchasing new software?
Your best option is probably to save the AutoCAD drawing as an image and then insert it into MC Prime.
My computer (Windows 7) has this neat program built-in called the snipping tool. It will do a screen grab of anything visible on your screen which can then be pushed to the clipboard for immediate paste (bitmap) into either 15 or Prime, or can be saved as an image file.
Further to Fred's comment:
You don't need to install a separate program to grab screenshots, it's built into windows (XP...10):
[CTL-PrtScn] will grab the complete videoscreen as a bitmap, you can paste anywhere (e.g. Windows Paint app).
[Alt-PrtScn] will grab the active application window.
Success!

I suppose another option would be to use Mathcad 15 instead of Prime. 15 has the ability to insert an AutoCAD object as you were used to. 15 is available for free with any purchase of Prime (uses the same license).
