Is there any way to open 3D files (from CREO) on Android tablet?

You could export the files as 3D PDF and you might be able to.  Can you run PVExpress on Android?

There is a Creo View app for Apple devices (iPad, IpHone)

            Not available on Android.

You need to export your 3D model in any neutral format for further opening. Here is a list of 3D viewers for Android: https://play.google.com/store/search?q=3D+viewer&c=apps

Unfortunately, the PTC is not like dassoult.

PTC us users are forced to export the file in E -Drawings

since E- drawing is also for ANDROID

if it continues to spend SOLIDWORKS.....

Creo View support for Android is definitely in my backlog for support in a future release.  Although I do not have specifics about the release stream, timeframe as yet, I shall keep you posted once I know more.

That's good news. Will it be this year yet?

We need some commitment here... ;-)

Commitment would be great.  Hardware purchasing decisions need to know this.  It's hard to believe PTC released one without the other being ready.

I am starting to think the long, evil arm of Apple is everywhere.  As a gamer as well, Grand Theft Auto V was released with an app for iPhone, but took 3 months later for app to come to Android.  By then, personalized license plates had all been taken, etc. etc., and there were rumors that Apple had paid Rockstar to delay Android release to bump iPhone sales... I'm starting to think our "beloved" PTC got a little kickback to screw those of us that didn't want to be Appelogs.

                                                    Hi,

Having been responsible for releasing Creo View Mobile App on Apple (I was with PTC until recently), the primary motivation for supporting Apple was the feedback from the TC's (Technical Committee meetings). Infact, I ran the "ProductView for Mobile devices" TC sessions for a couple years to gather customer requirements And, Apple turned out to be the most popular platform amongst the members of the TC (who attended). Hence, we zeroed in on Apple for the first release. Also, I had personally received numerous requests from customers for supporting Creo View on iPhone and iPad.

With that said, Android was on my roadmap (before I left couple months ago). As to the current status for supporting Android, someone from PTC Product Management should comment.

I would call this a case of the "loud minority".  That may have been primary feedback from a few loud people, or maybe just, like me, most android users hadn't considered using tablets or smartphones for use with a large organization's windchill implementation, like ours here at Panasonic Avionics Corp.  With a recent system wide upgrade, I discovered I could log into Windchill using my Android device, and the only thing I could not do is view the 3D productview representations.  I get access to all PDF specifications on the fly, along with the ability to download and view published PDF's of released engineering drawings and download and view STEP files using a 3rd party viewer... so when I looked around for a ProductView/Creo viewer for android and found it was only available for iPhone, I was understandably irritated.  This is in light of the fact that according to The Verge (see http://www.theverge.com/2013/8/7/4598728/nearly-80-percent-of-smartphones-shipped-last-quarter-ran-android).  Everyone in my organization would access via their smartphones, as I've already communicated the ability to many users... EXCEPT THEY ALL HAVE ANDROID.

According to the latest smartphone OS marketshare numbers from IDC, shipments of Android phones increased a whopping 73.5 percent to reach over 187 million units in the second quarter of 2013 — a figure that gives Android 79.3 percent of the smartphone marketplace.

Preach it!  It is amazing to me that it is not yet supported on android.  Maybe it's supported as it is now because upper management likes i(diot)phones?

I agree with you that the input that was received a few years ago was based on the market/company decisions/etc. back then. Android is definitely popular now and PTC should consider offering a Creo View app on  Android.

I hope you get your wish. It's a pain to feel you are 99% of the way, only to hit a roadblock.

Consider that, aside from the TC vote for iOS, there is still the large number of versions of Android hardware and OS releases.

Look at the limited number of OS versions and platforms that PTC supports for the rest of their software. That suggests a limited test and problem resolution budget, something all companies face. I can see why shooting for the iPad made initial sense. While the population of users is smaller, so is the variety to support. It may even represent a high-point. While Apple is sure to release a new device or OS version every year or so Android will likely see 100s of models with various OS versions, some customized. It might even pay for PTC to get a deal where the tablet ships with the software.

It could be worse. PTC could have release for WindowsRT.

                                                                  • Re: CREO on Android tablet

unfortunately, PTC has no trouble releasing new revisions every year to THEIR software, and then abandoning support for earlier versions, forcing a 2 billion dollar company like the one I work for to spend $100k's to redocument and retrain.  Whole ISO9000 / AS9100 thing... but I guess a basic 3D viewer (like the dozens of available android apps) using some core android functionality is a bit too complex and time consuming.

                                                Update For What It's Worth:

I have been playing around for a while now.  Perhaps it's just as good we have Android, and no PTC support.  I found an iPhone, and downloaded the iPhone app...  and it's not what I was hoping for.  It does not seem to connect to windchill, you have to sync the files with iTunes (yeek), or email them to yourself / download otherwise.

On the other hand, Windchill 9.1 appears to be fully compatible with my versions of Chrome for Android.  I can log into the internal wireless network at the office, throughout the campus.  Using the free Adobe Reader app, I can download all of our stored specifications and documents, and view them on my tablet and cell phone.  I am able to access all basic server maintenance functionality, like restarting publishers, check status, look at publish monitor, etc.  With the addition of AndroZip (paid app) I can "download representation" unzip, and access all released and published CAD (Engineering) Drawings, which is very helpful for Quality, Mfg, and others.  For our STEP files, with the addition of a paid STEP file viewer, I can download our incoming and outgoing data exchange files on my tablet, and view them in 3D.  Tasks can be completed, drawings reviewed (with some work and training) etc.  just using android with some 3rd party apps.

The only thing that cannot be done as of now is view the 3D published CAD document.  If PTC would create a SIMPLE viewer to view the pvs files that I can also download locally, everything would be shiny.
