Arbortext 7.1 Java Environment Variables

Hello,

I've got multiple users who get pushed the Java installs to their local devices JRE 8 ver 481 and everytime there's a push install the software fails to run which prompts with a error listed in the screenshot below.  The only way i've been able to resolve is to do a complete uninstall and reinstall.  The environment variables have been set but something with the Java install is overriding and I'm not sure what else to define in order to get the software back up and running.

If there's a permanent solution for future Java updates that won't break the environment I'm curious as to how to configure that for Windows 11 device.

Thanks so much!

Dear Customer,

Hope you're doing well. Have you tried giving environment variable APTJAVAVMPATH?

Post that retest Arbortext Editor and retest the use case.

Regards,

Manpreet Singh

Yes it's in the screenshots I've posted there's 3 of them that reference the problem.

The variable is set as C:\Program Files\Java\jre8\bin\server\jvm.dll

Attempted to reopen the client with the same issue.

Dear Customer,

Try using environment variable 'APTJAVAVMPATH'

Did you restart Arbortext Editor post these changes?

This link refers to 8.1 and there is nothing for me to try.

  • As of Arbortext Publishing Engine 8.1.2.0, log4j is no longer used
  • Custom Java applications must be updated to use log4j2
