simple function plot....newbee here, sorry

Trace comes up blank and alpha and beta are defined so I can't see my error....nor can I plot the function.

You just need a multiplication sign between α and t and β and t. Mathcad is seeing αt and βt as new variables, rather than α times t and β times t.
