Is a Re-host necessary?

I will be upgrading servers in the near future.  All we’re doing is a physical to virtual conversion, so the hardware is being upgraded, nothing on the software side changes. The server’s hostname and IP address remains the same as well.  My IT tech says the client machines will not know the difference but my CAD support(reseller) says I will need a re-host of Windchill at a cost of $4000.

Any thoughts?

Trust IT.  No rehost is required.  The whole point of a physical to virtual conversion is to not need to change the software.
